Annotations

Writing a title and introduction isn’t always enough to explain a chart to your readers. You can highlight key information directly on the chart using annotations, which guide readers and draw attention to the most important points.

Free form

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click Add point annotation [icon].

  3. Click anywhere on the chart to add the point annotation.

  4. Add an annotation label.

  5. Customize the label color and size, background color, and the border and connector lines.

  6. Click Done.

Custom labels

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click the Add custom label .

  3. Hover over the value on the chart and click to add the custom label.

  4. Type in the annotation label.

  5. Choose the text position from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click Done.

Horizontal line

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click Add horizontal line horizontal-line.png.

  3. Click on the chart where you want to add the horizontal line.

  4. Type in the annotation label.

    Annotation labels can be formatted using the bold and italic options at the top of the popup window.

  5. Choose the label position from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click the color indicator to change the line color.

  7. Choose the line style from the dropdown menu.

  8. Set the line position.

  9. Click Done.

Vertical line

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click Add vertical line vertical-line.png.

  3. Click on the chart where you want to add the vertical line.

  4. Type in the annotation label.

    Annotation labels can be formatted using the bold and italic options at the top of the popup window.

  5. Choose the label position from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click the color indicator to change the line color.

  7. Choose the line style from the dropdown menu.

  8. Set the line position.

  9. Click Done.

Horizontal range

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click Add horizontal range horizontal-range.png.

  3. Click and drag on the chart where you want to add horizontal range.

  4. Type in the annotation label.

    Annotation labels can be formatted using the bold and italic options at the top of the popup window.

  5. Choose the label position from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click the color indicator to change the line color.

  7. (Optional) Set the From – To range to adjust the range.

  8. Click Done.

Vertical range

  1. In the chart panel, click Annotations to expand it.

  2. Click Add vertical line vertical-range.png.

  3. Click and drag on the chart where you want to add vertical range.

  4. Type in the annotation label.

    Annotation labels can be formatted using the bold and italic options at the top of the popup window.

  5. Choose the label position from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click the color indicator to change the line color.

  7. (Optional) Set the From – To range to adjust the range.

  8. Click Done.
