Legend
Charts visually present data, but chart and axis titles alone may not provide enough context. To help your audience interpret the chart, include a legend that explains the meaning of colors, symbols, and other chart elements.
-
In the chart panel, click Legend to access the legend customization menu.
-
From the Position dropdown, choose the legend position, or turn it off by clicking None.
Enable interactivity
When two or more series are displayed in your chart, the Behavior on Click options bar appears, allowing you to enable interactivity. When enabled, readers can click any symbol in the legend to affect the corresponding series in the chart. Here’s what each behavior does when a symbol in the legend is clicked:
- Hide – The series represented by the symbol will be completely hidden.
- Gray Out – The series represented by the symbol will be grayed out but remain visible in the chart.
- Focus – The series represented by the symbol will be emphasized, while all other series are grayed out.
- None – Readers will not be able to interact with the legend.
Series by default – You can set a specific series to be hidden, grayed out, or emphasized when the chart loads. Readers can switch from the default series to another by clicking the corresponding symbol in the legend.
Enable Toggle-All – Enabling this option for the Hide or Gray Out behavior adds extra interactivity to the legend. By clicking All in the legend, readers can hide or gray out all series on the chart at once.
