Publish, share and update your map

Publish map

When you are ready to share your map, click on the Publish button and a popup window will appear displaying the map live link. You can share this link directly with your colleagues and collaborators. If you need to update a map after it has been published, edit it in the map editor, click Save, and then Republish.

Your published map will be updated automatically.

Sharing and embedding your maps

You've just published your map. As of right now, it's still not visible anywhere on the web. To make it accessible, you will need to share or embed your map.

Sharing a map

  1. At the top of the screen, click Publish.

Since your map has already been published, the pop-up window will be slightly different from the window in the previous step. If you edited your map after it has been published, then click Republish.

a) To send the direct link to your map, click the Copy link (or select the link in the link field and copy it) and paste it into an email or a message.

b) To share the map on social media, click the icon of the social network you want to share your map with.

Embedding a map

  1. At the top of the screen, click Publish.

  2. Click iFrame.

  3. Click Copy embed code.

  4. Paste the link to your blog or website.

Update map

Maps app allows you to revisit every map you've created, even the ones you already published and embedded, and update them. You can update the data or just play around with the colors, without affecting the embedded version of the map. All the changes will be visible only to you, and when you decide to allow your audiences to view the latest version of the map, you'll need to republish it.

Here's what you need to do to make sure your audiences are seeing the latest version of the map.

  1. At the top of the screen, click Publish.

Before publishing you need to save a map.

  2. To confirm you want to update the live version of your map, click Republish.

Once you republish the map, all the changes will be visible to all your audiences, and you don't need to send or embed a new link.
