Group data series

When visualizing complex datasets, keeping everything readable and organized can become a real challenge. This is why Charts allows you to group the series in your charts to highlight similarities and other links. To get started, you will need a column to group the series by.

Please note that for this option “Grouping” can not be used on all Chart types.

1. Add new column.
2. Set column data type to Text. 
3. Enter the name of the group each row belongs to, then click Create.
4. In the right-hand sidebar, click Grouping. 
5. From the Add group by dropdown, select the column with the group names.

The key series, or the leftmost series needs to be set to text for grouping to work. Find out how to set column data type.
